Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
To Prospective Participants
- Our Rotary club usually sponsors at least one participant each year. If there is more than one applicant the club interviews the applicants and will decide how many to send. Nominations close the 2nd of March 2011.
- Dates and duration of the program are from Monday, 11 April to Saturday, 16 April 2011. Students must attend for the full duration.
- The objectives of RYLA are to demonstrate Rotary’s respect and concern for young citizens, to provide a training experience, to encourage continued and stronger leadership of youth and to publicly recognise the high qualities of the many young people who are rendering service to the community as young leaders.
- RYLA is about leadership, learning and laughter; it is about co-operation, consideration, communication and confidence.
- It is a “kick-start” for young people aged 18-28, who have demonstrated leadership, intelligence and compassion within their local community.

To Business Owners
- Our Rotary Club is looking for your good staff members, aged 18 to 25, to be part of The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards.
- The programme concentrates on leadership and self reliance, so that you will have strong reliable employees who can take responsibility with confidence.
- You will send away an ordinary young person, and five days later you will get someone who is motivated, energetic, excited, and an enthusiastic leader as well.
- This programme is so well regarded that Charles Tarby, the founder of Century 21, is a regular guest. He gives his own time gratis so that your staff member will see what enthusiasm can achieve.
- It really does work. Fifty young people are given challenges, experiences and advice that can truly transform them.
- This same sort of commercial staff development programme would be quite expensive, as you well know.
- Rotary so strongly believes in this that it is putting some of its own resources into it, to help reduce the cost to you.
