Rotarians categorise their efforts to give service into four main Avenues of Service. These are:
- Club
- Vocational
- Community
- International
These Avenues of Service remain central to the work of Rotary, ensuring that a Club’s service efforts are balanced and working to achieve all aspects of the Object of Rotary.
The Avenues of Service help Rotary Clubs remain focused on the main purpose of Rotary – Service Above Self.
Clubs set annual goals that address each avenue of service. Distict 9800 has leaders for each area.
Within the Avenue of Service to a Club (or Rotary in general), the operational needs of the Club and Rotary are normally addressed by five standing committees:
- club administration,
- club public relations,
- membership,
- service projects,
- and The Rotary Foundation.
